A colleague of road victim Stephen Lee paid tribute to the 20-year-old yesterday.

Mr. Lee, a member of the Airport Security Police, died in the early hours of Saturday from injuries sustained when his motorbike collided with a van on North Shore, Hamilton Parish, on Friday afternoon.

His supervisor Joanne Burgess said: "Everyone is devastated. He was like a son ? such a nice guy."

Mr. Lee was one of the youngest members of the close-knit team of 20 at the airport, who help deal with medical and other emergencies. He had been in his job for around 12 months.

Ms Burgess described the young man as "intelligent and very nice," and recalled that "you could not stay mad at him".

The Airport Security Police have placed a sign on the fence facing out towards Ferry Reach paying tribute to Mr. Lee, from Hamilton Parish (see photo). Among the messages are one recalling how he had "the brightest smile."

A similar banner has been erected near the scene of the collision, opposite the Tony's Fine Foods store.
