Ascendant gains 10.5%

Four local companies saw gains in Bermuda Stock Exchange trading last week.

The biggest advances came in the utilities sector. Ascendant Group Holdings Ltd rose 10.5 per cent to close on $5.80 on the trading of 18,708 shares, while KeyTech Ltd surged 6.7 per cent to $4, as 24,000 shares changed hands.

Butterfield Bank rose a cent to $2 as 91,905 shares traded, while Bermuda Aviation Services Ltd also climbed a cent to close on $2.62, as 10,000 shares changed hands.

The most heavily traded stock was Argus Group Holdings Ltd. The insurer fell ten cents, or 2.7 per cent, to $3.55, as 117,900 shares were traded.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index gained 10.82 points, or 0.78 per cent, to close on 1,374.9.

Trading volume topped 263,000 shares while turnover was more than $838,000.
