Labour report to be discussed today
The 2014 Labour Force Survey Report will be discussed at a press briefing today by Acting Premier and Minister of Finance Bob Richards.
The announcement was made yesterday by the Cabinet Office, after Shadow Finance Minister David Burt suggested that Government had delayed the release of the latest unemployment figures.
Mr Burt’s comments were made after a ZBM news report suggested that the survey had been prepared and submitted, but had been held while Cabinet looked into the veracity of its figures.
Mr Burt challenged Government to release the survey and said: “This report citing sources stated that these figures show that there was a loss of 500 jobs in 2014.
“This should not be surprising, as Bermudians have had a steady diet of business closures and layoffs,” he added. Mr Burt charged the One Bermuda Alliance with holding “an increasing record of a lack of transparency”.
