The Royal Gazette/BSX Index finished flat on the final trading day of the year.

The index closed unchanged at 1,357.12, with just under 26,000 shares changing hands on Wednesday. A total of 4,500 shares of Ascendant Group were traded, but there was no change to the share price of $4.50. In the international companies listings, 21,482 HSBC shares changed hands. The bank’s shares closed at $9.35, down 35 cents (3.6 per cent).
