Hubbard climbing up
the weekend, as racing moved to the foothills of the Maritime Alps in southern France.
Hubbard thrived on the hilly terrain, that gave him the opportunity to showcase his tremendous climbing skills, and captured two prizes on Sunday during the Grand Prix of Semboules, covering 80 kilometres.
The Bermudian was named the best climber and most aggressive rider, for which he received a ceiling fan and 500 francs (approximately $100) as rewards.
Racing in treacherous conditions, where a constant rain made negotiating the course an adventure, Hubbard led for 40 kilometres after embarking on a solo breakaway from the lead pack 10 kilometres into the race.
However, the strategy backfired on the youngster, who tired and was reeled in and eventually dropped by a trailing group of four approximately 20 kilometres from the finish.
Hubbard finished 10th overall, and second for his team Monaco International in a race where only 20 out of 94 starters managed to finish.
Meanwhile, on Saturday the youngster placed eighth to help Monaco capture overall team honours at the Souvenir Alech, won by 29-year-old team-mate Caesarie.
