Volunteers are sought to work with animals
TEENAGE volunteeers are being offered the chance to work with animals in a voluntary programme run by the Bermuda Zoological Society.
The deadline for students aged 14 to 18 to apply to join the BMZ's Junior Volunteer Programme is two weeks tomorrow.
The volunteers will commit themselves for an entire school year, from September this year to May next year, dedicating themselves for one morning each weekend to work at the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo.
Sixteen volunteers will be selected for the programme from the applicants.
"Our JVs have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of activities from feeding animals to cleaning, working at special events, helping with education programmes and participating in special programmes like turtle tagging," said Donna Heslop, BZS volunteer co-ordinator. "We hope their experience at BAMZ will inspire appreciation and care of the environment."
Interested students should contact Donna Heslop at 293-2727, extension 130, or by e-mail at bzsvolunteersibl.bm. Application forms are available at BAMZ front desk or on-line at www.bamz.org. Applications should be in by 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 22.
