Micah Straw, of Palmetto Road, Devonshire, yesterday pleaded guilty in the Supreme Court to grievous bodily harm with the intent to do bodily harm and possessing an offensive weapon -- a crowbar.

Straw had also been charged with the attempted murder of 36-year-old Andre Rawlins and an additional charge of grievous bodily harm.

Despite the Crown's decision to accept Straw's guilty pleas, the more serious charge of attempted murder will remain on his file.

Mr. Rawlins was attacked by a crowbar-wielding Straw, on August 25 last year.

He suffered severe head injuries and broken jaw in the attack. He was found lying in a pool of blood outside Fat Man's Cafe, on Palmetto Road around 3 a.m.

The attack left Mr. Rawlins in critical condition in King Edward VII Memorial Hospital's intensive care unit.

A social inquiry and a psychiatric report were ordered on Straw who will next appear in the Supreme Court on October 1 to set a date for his sentencing.
