MAN ADMITS FRAUD CTS A social inquiry report has been ordered for a 28-year-old Pembroke man who pleaded guilty to receiving $200 worth of goods and cash under false pretences.

Leon Gordon Gibbons of Rockville Lane, admitted making and uttering a false document and inducing an employee of T.A. Adderly & Sons Ltd. to give him $100 worth of money and goods.

On another occasion he made and uttered a false document and induced a employee of the Shopping Centre to give him money and goods worth $100.

Gibbons denied breaking and entering the Devonshire home of Tonia Porpiglia and stealing three cheques worth 30 cents.

TOOLS STOLEN CRM Thieves stole some expensive tools from a church work site in Devonshire on Wednesday.

They broke into a church hall where the tools were being stored and made off with two Makita jack hammers valued at $1,200 and $350, and a $300 Skill saw.

The Palm Reef Hotel was also targeted by thieves. Some time on Tuesday night, a cigarette vending machine was forced open.

Considerable damage was caused to the front of the machine and an unknown quantity of cash was stolen.

CHARGES CHANGED CTS Crown Counsel Mr. Brian Calhoun sought two changes in charges brought against Merilyn Dill who was alleged to have stolen $19,908 from law firm Appleby Spurling & Kempe between February 17 and December 21 last year.

Dill, 38, of Princess Estates, Pembroke, is now alleged to have stolen $50,218 between January 20 and December 21, 1993.

The Canadian resident appeared in Magistrates' Court this week but was not required to enter a plea.

FINED FOR THEFT CTS A 22-year-old Devonshire woman was fined $200 in Magistrates' Court this week after she pleaded guilty to stealing, using offensive words and threatening behaviour.

Sgt. Rex Osborne, prosecuting, told the court that Mia Winters of Devon Springs Road, used offensive words and acted in a threatening manner on Church Street towards a security guard from the Phoenix Store on July 21.

The guard was trying to find out whether she had paid the $5.50 for a toy boat her son was carrying.

Winters was unable to produce a receipt and is reported to have rushed towards the security guard shouting obscenities.

Though Winters denied stealing the toy, she refused to change her plea and get a trial date when given the opportunity by Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis.

WALLET TAKEN CRM A wallet containing $600 was stolen on Wednesday night from a house on Ingham Vale in Pembroke, Police said yesterday.

The theft occurred after someone apparently forced open a kitchen door.
