Thompson's secret team

Bermuda coach Kenny Thompson is keeping his starting eleven for tonight's clash against visiting Trinidad and Tobago at the National Sports Centre under heavy wraps.

Thompson yesterday refused to divulge any information regarding his team, saying: "I won't comment on any specific players playing in either matches. We'll try to use all 22 players in the matches if possible. This is still preparation and an opportunity for us to see as many players as possible."

Still smarting from last month's 4-0 drubbing from Barbados on home soil, Bermuda will have to quickly pick up the pieces and regroup against a formidable Trinidad side which will be further strengthened for Thursday night's second match by British professionals Stern John (Birmingham City) and Jason Scotland (Dundee United).

Both tonight's and Thursday's matches kick off 7.30 p.m.

Bermuda's full squad is: Dwayne Adams, Troy Hall, Kentoine Jennings, Jamel Warren, Stanton Lewis, Kevin Richards, Shannon Burgess, Randy Swan, Logan Alexander, Meshach Wade, Jemeiko Jennings, Clevon Hill, Ottis Steede, Chris Moulder, Domico Coddington, Damon Ming, Jared Peniston, Khano Smith, Ralph Bean Jr, John Nusum, Rohaan Simons and Carlos Smith. Technical staff: Kenny Thompson, Dennis Brown, George Hayward, Allan Philpott (coaches); Troy Bremar (physiotherapists); Wendell Joe Trott (team administrator and manager).

Several new faces have been added to the roster as Thompson continues to search for the right combination ahead of the World Cup qualifying home and away series against Montserrat scheduled to start later this month.

Added to the original squad have been Southampton Rangers' Ottis Steede, former Bermuda captain Shannon Burgess (Devonshire Colts), Rohaan Simons (Rangers), Jemeiko Jennings (North Village) and Hamilton Parish forward Clevon Hill while PHC striker Stephen Astwood and Boulevard's Stanton Lewis have returned.

US-based players Kevin Richards, Chris Moulder and John Barry Nusum have also been included in the final squad of 22.

Devonshire Cougars' midfielder Kwame Steede has apparently fallen out of coach Thompson's immediate plans.

The coach said yesterday he was confident his players would give a good account of themselves, stating: "I believe we have the potential to be successful against Trinidad and I have a lot of confidence in the group of players we have.

"I think if we can concentrate for the entire match, perform well technically, exercise a high level of football intelligence and be prepared to play from a high physical and mental standing for 90 minutes, we can get a good result."

He added: "Trinidad have always been known to have formidable teams and I believe our team will perform very well. We don't exactly know how Trinidad play and the level of their team. But based on the past we know they will have a very technical team.

"But if we can remain focused for the entire 90 minutes, perform well technically and put away any chances, then I believe we can get a good result . . . but that's all theoretical."

Meanwhile, Trinidad Communications Officer Shaun Fuentes was also brimming with confidence ahead of tonight's friendly.

"Bermudian fans can look forward to entertaining and exciting football even though we don't have many of the overseas pros with us. It's a good chance for the coaches to have a look at some of the guys who will be complemented by the overseas pros in the future," Fuentes told The Royal Gazette.

Trinidad's full squad is as follows: Kevin Graham, Garvin McKenna, Jamal Hamid, Derek King, Marvin Phillips, Cornell Glenn, Travis Mulraine, Aurtis Whitley, Angus Eve, Trent Noel, Ansil Elock, Cyd Gray, Anton Pierre, Atiba Charles, Stokely Mason and Conrod Smith. Technical staff: Ron La Forest, Michael McComie, Michael Maurice (coaches); Zephyrinus Nicholas (physiotherapist); Ronald Franklin (equipment manager) and Peter Rampersad (team administrator).
