Bradley completes Grand Slam foursome

PGA tour rookie Keegan Bradley is the last name to be added to the Grand Slam of Golf which will be played at Port Royal in October, following his play-off win at the PGA Championship yesterday. He joins Masters winner Charl Schwartzel of South Africa and Irish stars Rory McIlroy and Darren Clarke who won the US Open and British Open respectively.Providing all four accept their Grand Slam invitations, the two-day event on October 18-19 should see a star-studded tournament with four players from three different continents.Bradley, who had trailed fellow American Jason Dufner by five strokes with three holes to play in regulation, clinched the prized Wanamaker Trophy over three extra holes at the Atlanta Athletic Club yesterday. His victory, in his debut major, ended an unprecedented run of six majors without a US champion and was his second title on the US circuit in his first season. The four major winners could now battle it out in the $1.35 million Bermuda tournament.Last year’s Slam was won by South African Ernie Els who topped Graeme McDowell, David Toms and Martin Kaymer.Alternate Els picked up $600,000, the same amount that will be collected to the winner this year. But there’s no guarantee this year’s four major champions will play in October. In the past, Tiger Woods has declined his invitation and last year, Masters winner Phil Mickelson and British Open champion Louis Oosthuizen were unable to play and were replaced by Els and American Toms.Again this year’s event will be televised by TNT who reached out to an estimated worldwide audience of almost 90 million.
