Allied World Assurance Company Holdings Ltd. has appointed John Telenko as vice-president of health care.

Mr. Telenko, who will be based in Bermuda, will be charged with developing the company's portfolio of North American hospitals, health care organisations and miscellaneous facilities produced by Bermuda and London insurance brokers.

He will report to Kirsten Faria, vice-president and Bermuda and international product line manager of health care. Chief underwriting officer Frank D'Orazio said: "John's experience will be a great asset to our expanding Bermuda health care team. We are pleased to welcome John to Allied World and anticipate that he will make significant contributions to our organisation."

Mr. Telenko brings more than 18 years of experience within the insurance industry. He most recently served as director of underwriting for Cassatt RRG Holding Co. from 2005 to 2008.

Prior to that, he was a regional underwriting director for Berkley Medical Excess Underwriters, a subsidiary of WR Berkley Corporation; assistant vice-president, producer for Commonwealth Risk Services Inc., the marketing branch of Mutual Risk Management Ltd.; and vice-president, client advisor in the healthcare division of the risk management department with Marsh USA Inc.
