Talk centres on church

A story last week on bulky waste collection listed the incorrect number for people to call and arrange for bulky waste pick-ups. The correct number is 292-7454.

The stonemason working on the Unfinished Church will give an encore performance of his presentation on the history of the landmark and the work being done to stabilise it.

Mr. Lee Saunders will give his talk at Mulligan's Bar at the St. George's Golf Club on July 13 at 7.00 p.m.

He has been in Bermuda since March of last year at work on the church. During his presentation, he will also talk about the art and craft of stonemasonry.

The National Trust and the Ministry of Works and Engineering are working together, with financial assistance from Mrs. Walter Jones and her family to preserve the historical landmark.

The church which was started in the 1870's was never finished due to parish conflicts.

Over the years, the building has eroded and the National Trust decided to do what was necessary to stabilise it and make it safe for tourists and locals to visit.

Mr. Saunders work will be complete at the end of July.
