Secretary of the Corporation of Hamilton Mr. Roger Sherratt said, however, a stage would be built.

And exit doors and toilets would also have to be installed by the club's owner.

As reported on Wednesday, the Corporation has agreed to lease the building to Bermudian businessman Mr. Nelson Hunt, of Hunt's Sanitation Services.

A liquor licensing hearing will decide on Monday whether to grant him a provisional licence.

Club manager will be Goslings' employee Mr. Leroy Lewis.

The Corporation invited people to submit bids for running the club last year.

Mr. Sherratt said the invitation caused a flood of offers.

"We had a considerable amount of interest from people who wanted to operate a nightclub.

"After careful consideration the Corporation selected Mr. Nelson Hunt.'' He pointed out Mr. Hunt had put forward an "excellent proposal'', which would not lead to major structural changes.

"Mr. Hunt now has to obtain all the necessary permissions. For example a liquor licence, and planning department approval.'' Mr. Sherratt said the Corporation had made clear noise should be kept to a minimum at the club, so nearby businesses would not be disturbed.

And the Corporation wanted to ensure there was adequate security.

Mr. Sherratt said the club was designed to provide live entertainment by Bermudians.

It would help brighten up the night life which has been considered dull.

The proposal had the backing of tourism chiefs and Premier the Hon. Sir John Swan.
