The battle of league minnows produced one of the night's most exciting encounters as New Mix Ups squeaked out a 16-14 win against Spoilers, assuring the losers a spot at the bottom of the tables.

In other matches, Stevedoring Services shocked Marlboro 20-10 and Signature Card downed Gosling's 231 -61 .

The battle for first place continued in the Fishbowl league with Wahoo maintaining a slim lead over Marlins.

Wahoo stand on 60 points to 59 for the second-placed team after a recent victory over Cow Pollies.

David Mello spurred the effort in rolling a 237 game and 587 series aided by Doug Hines' third high series 587.

To Cow Pollies' credit they never gave in, fighting to the end. Notable contributions came from Barbara Smith, who tossed in a 539 series, tops among the women.

Meanwhile, Tuna continued with their recent resurgence, seizing a four-point triumph over Angel Fish.

Mansfield Allen topped the overall scoring list in both categories, scorching to a 609 and 246 series and game respectively.

Other matches had Marlins overwhelming Sharks, Barracuda devouring Hinds, Dolphins escaping the bite of Piranhas and Mackerel swimming past Porgies.

In Mott's Sportsmen's League action, Buy & Sell continued their winning ways with a solid 24-3 triumph over last-placed Youngblood.

But it was Cleve Harris of second-placed Sparks who stole the spotlight with an individual high game of 235 as Sparks defeated Warwick Whites 16-11.

Individual high series honours went to Antoine Jones of Pembroke Juniors who registered a blistering 615 as the Juniors defeated Social Club 16-11. Jones also produced the league's third-highest game of the week with a 222. In the other game Warwick Reds toppled Mini Forwarders 16-11.

Pembroke Juniors led in team high series category with 2,745 followed by Buy & Sell's 2,673 and Warwick Reds' 2,654. Juniors also accumulated the highest team game with a 939 score while Social Club and Reds were tied for second place with 927. Buy & Sell were third-place finishers at 915.

Juniors' Woody Jones' 610 score was good for third high series.

Jue Van Lowe of Reds finished with the week's second best high game of 226.

Saturday's matches: Pembroke Juniors v Mini Forwarders; Warwick Whites v Buy & Sell; Social Club v Sparks; Warwick Reds v Young Blood.

In Mixed Majors league play Strikes defeated B's & G's 4-0, Troublemakers proved too much difficulty for Last Minutes winning 4-0, Dolphins topped Dynamic Four 4-0, Mix-Ups beat D&D Rollers 3-1 while E&C Well Drilling and Untouchables tied 2-2.

Untouchables had the best team series with 2,124 followed closely by Well Drilling's 2,106. Troublemakers' 2,057 was the league's third-best series.

Well Drilling and Untouchables shone in the game category, scoring 729 followed by Troublemakers, who scored a third-best 700.

Kevin Minors of Dolphins sizzled with 596 for individual high series followed by Cam Reid of Well Drilling with 574 and Rollers' Wayne Kelly with 540.

Vivian Griffiths of Untouchables proved to be untouchable, leading women scorers in both the series and game areas with 609 and 226 scores respectively.
