AMERICAN FOOTBALL FOO Bermudians will get the opportunity to see a live American Football game played here when two varsity football teams from Georgetown University and Washington and Lee University will be featured in the inaugural Bermuda Bowl in November at the National Stadium.

National Football League games are seen regularly on local television along with college games, but this time local residents can enjoy the real atmosphere that prevails in a sport that is showing rapid growth outside the United States.

The Bermuda Bowl, which will coincide with a debating table taking place between the two schools, is being sponsored by the Bermuda Tourism Department along with Southampton Princess and the Hamilton Princess, the Bank of Bermuda, XL Insurance and BAS. It is being co-ordinated by Robustelli Sports Marketing, a division of Robustelli Corporate Services Ltd. of Stamford, Connecticut.

Plans are to stage the Bermuda Bowl annually by featuring match-ups between Division 1-AA schools.

First-round leaders Charlie and Joan Hartnett from Winchester, Massachusetts, are only one stroke behind the leaders after a solid seven-under 64. Dick and Alice Drew from Newtonville, Massachusetts, are four strokes back at 16-under 117.
