"As far as I know the person who was involved in booking the National Stadium is no longer involved. I can confirm based on everything I know at this point, that there will be no concert on July 30 or 31.

"There is another gentleman who is interested in stepping in to bring in Public Enemy and Isaac Hayes and others. But as of this moment it is not on.'' Mr. Roberts was unwilling to release the names of the persons who have expressed interest in backing the event. He would only say that he would comment only after he had completed a scheduled meeting with these individuals this afternoon.

But the Press agent for Isaac Hayes, who was scheduled to perform along with Public Enemy, says that the concert is still on -- although a day later than advertised.

Mr. Carl Willis told The Royal Gazette that the concert was being held at the National Stadium on Saturday July 31 because the organisers felt that Public Enemy's and Isaac Hayes' performances would be the culmination of the Cup Match holiday.

"This is going to be the show of all shows.'' Mr. Willis said. When contacted at his hotel in New York, Mr. Hayes said he was looking forward to coming back to Bermuda.

"I was last in Bermuda in the 70s -- the people were warm and friendly, and the weather was beautiful.'' he said.
