And Deputy Governor Peter Willis yesterday said he had called the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office and asked them to help speed up the process.
Gopinath was released from prison on June 1 after being in custody since March 19 when he was arrested at Bermuda International Airport.
He had been released from a 28 day detention in prison that was added to his six week sentence for entering Bermuda on forged documents.
On March 25, Deputy Governor Peter Willis set in motion international efforts to send him to his parents after he told Senior Magistrate Will Francis if he were returned to Sri Lanka he would be killed.
