BAA hit for six in season opener
St. David's 6 BAA 1
A brace from Angelo Cannonier guided St. David's to this convincing victory at BAA Field as the First Division campaign got underway yesterday.
Yet despite the lopsided score, they didn't have things all their own way as they headed into the break only 2-1 up against a side who didn't manage a single point last season.
Both sides attempted to shake off the rust of not playing for a while but it was the Islanders who made the most of what they practised in the pre-season.
Additional strikes from Aaron Crockwell, Anthony Burchall, Sean Boddington and Otis Minors sent the visitors home with maximum points as they got their bid for promotion off to a flying start.
Kyle Monkman netted the Greens consolation goal.
Wolves 1 Ireland Rangers 6
For a team who struggled to attract players after losing so many during the off season, Ireland Rangers proved it would be unwise to write them off so early as skipper Henry Santucci scored a hat-trick to lead them to this emphatic victory at Devonshire Rec.
The West Enders were stretched in the opening half but managed to grab a 2-1 lead by the interval and then gained the upperhand when play restarted, adding four more goals – skipper Santucci leading the way with his strikes.
Also among the goals were Jonathon Bean, Andre Outerbridge and Daniel Caines.
Wolves suffered the distinction of having two players sent off in the second half, the first being ejected after Rangers had built a 3-1 lead. And the second red card came shortly afterwards.
Young Men's Social Club 4 Paget 2
Clay Darrell netted a hat-trick as the Bluebirds beat Paget 4-2 at Bernard Park to get their campaign off to a good start.
Darrell scored the first two goals of the match and hit a crucial strike late on to settle the match as Paget were pressing for an equaliser.
Shervin Jennings added another goal for Social Club while Ricardo Macedo and Kyhon Smith scored for Paget.

Visiting Somerset Eagles got two unexpected surprises when they visited Garrison Field in St. George's yesterday for their season opener clash against home side X-Roads.
Firstly, they discovered only one goalpost had been errected and then found their hosts had failed to show up.
Bermuda Football Association will now have to decide whether Eagles will be awarded the points.
