Concerned directors of Horizons Ltd. made a public statement that the hotel has not been for sale at any time in the last two years, will not be in the future and will not be closed.

Horizons Ltd. managing director George Wardman, whose company operates Newstead, Horizons, Waterloo House and Coral Beach, added there were no plans to offload any of the sites.

He added: "1998 has been an encouraging year for the Horizons Ltd. hotels.

All four properties continue to strive for excellence and distinction in Bermudian hospitality.

"There is no plan to sell or close down any of these Bermudian-owned and operated hotels.'' POLICE TO GET TRAINING POL Police to get training Bermuda Police officers are to receive new training in crowd and disturbance control.

The course, which starts on Wednesday and lasts until the end of August, updates the force with new public order training currently used in the United Kingdom.

MAN HURT AT RESTAURANT CRM Man hurt at restaurant A Pembroke man was treated at hospital after an incident at a Court Street restaurant.

The 33-year-old man suffered swelling to an eye after he was involved in a fracas with another man at the Arabian Chicken restaurant at 10.30 p.m. on Friday.

VISITORS INJURED AC Visitors injured A visiting couple were injured after an accident involving a livery cycle, a car and a taxi.

The incident happened on Harrington Sound Road on Saturday morning, when the cycle, ridden by the visitors, a 54-year-old man and his wife, collided with the rear of a car and the front of a taxi.

The man suffered a fractured wrist and cuts to his knee. His wife suffered cuts to her arm.

All three vehicles were badly damaged.

In a separate incident, a female visitor suffered a broken wrist and cuts to the head after an accident at Somerset Bridge, Sandys Parish.

The woman, from New Jersey, was riding a livery cycle which collided with a car on the causeway around the bridge, on Saturday afternoon.

MYSTERY FLARES PROBED RAO Mystery flares probed Public sightings of white flares in the night sky have been reported to Harbour Radio.

A spokesman said there had been calls regarding two white flares spotted on Friday night, but so far they hadn't been able to establish an explanation.

On Saturday, four small vessels had to be taken under tow after losing engine power.

The incidents occurred at various locations around the Island, and involved boats running out of fuel and breaking down. All were returned safely to port.

IMPAIRED RIDER FINED CTS Impaired rider fined A Pembroke man had his most expensive drink last month - and it wasn't champagne! Paul Eugene Hodgson was fined $600 and banned from all motor vehicles for twelve months yesterday after admitting to driving while impaired on June 14.

Police on Dundonald Street said that they spotted Hodgson swerving and crossing the centre line while riding his red auxiliary cycle on Woodlands Road at 10.40 p.m.

A police report stated that, when stopped by Police, the defendant leaned on his auxiliary cycle for support and appeared to be drunk. Despite his appearance, Hodgson told police that he had only drunk two beers.
