parties of the Christmas season can be pretty difficult. After they've tired of their new toys and become bored with `adult talk', there's often nothing left to do but become irritable.

Wholesome entertainment is only a pit stop away however as the gang at Phase One Video on South Shore Road in Smith's have compiled a list of the ten most wanted rentals for the season guaranteed to keep young ones in good spirits.

Annabelle's Christmas tells the tale of a young boy who lives in a barn filled with all kinds of animals. The boy never speaks but each Christmas, Santa Claus gives the animals the power of speech and grants them one wish. One year, a deer that lives in the barn pleads with Santa to take away her ability to talk for that day, and asks if the little boy might have it instead. Santa of course, is delighted with the idea and the heartwarming story continues from there.

Jingle All the Way stars Arnold Schwarzenegger as a busy professional who never seems to find time to spend with his son and instead, always makes promises which he never keeps. Finally, one Christmas, his son asks for one special toy which his father promises he will receive. He keeps putting it off until Christmas Eve, when of course, there is only one of that toy to be found anywhere. Another last-minute father is also in desperate need of the precious gift however, and the two end up fighting for the present. All turns out well in the end, with the father becoming his son's hero -- and the other boy getting the toy.

A Christmas Carol is an animated version of Charles Dickens' classic tale of Scrooge, a miserly, old, man who is made to change his ways through visits by the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future.

Touched By An Angel is a film with a message. It Flicks for kids follows the lives of a family of orphans and stars Randy Travis as the older brother of a boy who is not stupid, but just a bit slower than most kids his age. The young boy wishes he was intelligent and that he had a complete family, especially as his brother often tends to lost patience with him. His one friend is a little girl who is destined to play an angel in the church Christmas play, but dies before that happens. It's as he is visiting the church that the support bracket of a hanging angel falls to the ground. When the angel doesn't fall as well, he realises it's because she's real. From there follows a touching story which brings he and his brothers closer as a family.

Beauty and the Beast is the animated version of the children's story tale with a Christmas-hating church organ as the bane of the beast which lives under the building.

Miracle On 34th Street retells the holiday miracle of the 1947 film classic.

Six year old Susan has doubt's about childhood's most enduring miracle -- Santa Claus. Her mother told her the `secret' about Santa Claus a long time ago so she doesn't expect to receive the most important gift on her Christmas list. Chevy Chases' Christmas Vacation takes another look at the adventures of the hilarious Griswold family. A season for giving, for Yuletide carols, for Christmas tree lights glowing brightly, until the family realises the Christmas tree is on fire. Clark Griswold is a disaster waiting to happen and before you can say fa-la-la-la-la he's decking the halls with howls of folly in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. Clark wants to make sure his family enjoys the most fun-filled, old-fashioned, family Christmas ever. There are 25,000 lights on the Griswold rooftop, an exploding turkey on the Griswold table, a dozen or so more turkeys as guests and a SWAT team taking battle stations outside.

Ernest Saves Christmas centres around goofy, but lovable Ernest P. Worrell.

Along the way, Santa Claus and Ernest help a cynical teen experience the season spirit like never before.

Scrooged stars Bill Murray and Carol Kane. High-spirited Christmas high-jinks on Christmas Eve, put Frank Cross in a ghostly time warp in this hilarious take-off of Charles Dickens', A Christmas Carol . Cross, who has made the meteoric rise from the depths of the mail room to TV network president, is mean, nasty, uncaring and has a sadistic sense of humour -- perfect qualities for a modern day Scrooge. Before the night is over, he will be visited by a maniacal New York ca b driver from the past, a present day fairy who's into pratfalls, and finally, a ghoulish seven-foot headless messenger from the future.

Frosty's Winter Wonderland sees a classic children's character come vividly to life For the family with beautiful animation starring the voices of Andy Griffith and Shelley Winters. In this musical holiday film, Frosty's young friends build him a snowwife. The snowpeople fall in love and prepare a lavish wedding celebration. But the evil Jack Frost freezes the happy couple lifeless.

Frosty's friends must devise a plan to bring Frosty and his bride back to life. Only a special warm kiss placed on Frosty's cheek can bring back the songs and happiness.

Leisure Time, on Queen Street, predicted those movies which are sure to be popular with the entire family this Christmas season.
