Patricia Dew, wife of the late Leslie Dew, passed away on June 1. She was 86.

Mrs. Dew lived in Bermuda from 1977 to 1992 after which she moved to Boston.

The Dews lived at Roxdene after leaving England where Mr. Dew was the senior deputy chairman of Lloyd?s. He headed up Gulf Oil?s Bermuda offshore insurance captive, IncCo.

Mrs. Dew lived an exuberant life, her son Robert said.

Everyone who came into contact with her remembered her for her wit, candour, generosity, gregarious personality, charm and her ?doer? mentality.

Born Florence in Burnley, Lancashire, she headed south at an early age to Coventry, England and soon to London. It was there that she opened two dress shops, ?Jean Russell? and ?Miss Pat? on fashionable Church Street, Kensington.

She had impeccable fashion taste and it was believed that a member of the Royal Family had dresses made there.

Mrs. Dew was an award-winning dancer on the European circuits in the 1940s. She was second to none in interior design and had the ability to spot furniture and art ?in the rough?.

She left her mark on several real estate properties in the UK.

The couple met through Lloyd?s in 1956 and married. Mrs. Dew gave up her dress shops for maternity and Lloyd?s social management. She never forgot her roots and became a philanthropist for various causes including an AIDS hospice.

Mrs. Dew is survived by her son Robert of Palatine, Illinois, grandchildren Christopher and Stephanie, and sister Sadie of Lancashire, UK.
