Good weekend for Harris and Hayward
Cameron Harris and Samantha Hayward made major strides during weekend harness racing at Bermuda Equestrian Centre.Both drivers managed to get a leg out of their respective time bars.Harris is now one leg outside of the Free for All after posting the day’s second fastest time (1:04/4) in the 1:05-1:06 time bar with stallion Brona’s Mike.Hayward put one leg outside of the 1:10/4-1:12/4 time bar after crossing the line in 1:10/2 with stallion Red Grand.Joe Vieira posted the day’s fastest time (1:04/3) with mare Cherokee Kibbitz in the Free for All which was one fifth of a second slower than the fastest time (1:04/2) recorded so far this season.Six drivers managed multiple wins.The evergreen Arthur Hurst, uncle of Driving Horse and Pony Club president Arnold Manders, won two heats in the 1:10/4-1:12/4 time bar with stallion Colonel’s J.Philip Correia won two heats with mare Spirit of Bruna and stallion Cherokee’s Superman in the 1:10/4-1:12/4 time bar and Free for All respectively.Aaron Madeiros won two heats with mare GV Special Dream in the 1:07/2-1:08/2 time bar while John Flood swept both heats in the 1:08/3-1:10/3 time bar with mare Just Like That.Andrea Westerfield and Casey Truran were the other multiple heat winners.Westerfield swept both heats in the 1:06/1-1:07/1 time bar with stallion Casmir Camotion while Truran achieved the same feat in the 1:13 & Slower time bar with colt Inwood’s Generation.David Lopes, one of the most senior drivers in the sport, continued his rich early season form, guiding gelding Pastor Paul to victory in the 1:07/2-1:08/2 time bar.
