Overseas Partners purchase Atlanta building

Atlanta Financial Centre to Overseas Partners Capital Corporation, a subsidiary of Bermuda-based reinsurance company Overseas Partners Ltd., it was revealed yesterday.

The financial centre, a 900,000 square foot premier office building, is located in Atlanta's upscale Buckhead district.

Purchase price was not disclosed but such properties generally go for $120 to $180 per square foot, Overseas Partners Ltd. said.

MONY's real estate advisors in the deal were ARES Realty Capital Inc., and Eastdil Realty.

The sale brings to a close nearly five months of negotiations during which ARES entertained bids from over ten prospective buyers.

ARES retains substantially all of its current responsibilities for the financial centre.

The transaction is due to close in early September and will give Overseas Partners Capital Corp. its second property in the Atlanta market.

Last November, Overseas Partners Corp. purchased One Buckhead Plaza from MetLife.

Atlanta-based Overseas Partners Capital Corp. was founded in 1989 by Overseas Partners Ltd.

In 1984, the stock of Overseas Partners Ltd. was spun off as a special dividend to the shareholders of United Parcel Service America Inc. Since then, the company has functioned as a independent corporation with its owns shareholders, board, and officers.

Its core business is reinsurance of shipper's risk, workers' compensation, property and casualty, homeowners, life and other specialty covers.
