its nursery and pre-school facilities for its employees.

In a bid to eliminate a waiting list, ACE Ltd. will redevelop a residential building next door to the current ACE day care facility on Woodbourne Avenue.

The present facility proved so popular that more than a dozen children were put on a waiting list for day care.

"We didn't know what to expect when we opened our day care just over a year ago, so we are delighted with the enthusiastic response from our staff,'' ACE chairman Brian Duperreault said.

"We employ over 150 people, 75 percent of whom are Bermudian. Our staff want to know that their children are safe and happy in a healthy environment. We feel that we have achieved the right environment with ACE day care.

"There is a delicate balance between job and family,'' Mr. Duperreault added.

"I believe ACE can help our employees achieve that balance by providing quality care that is close to their workplace.'' The DAB gave approval for 20 children to be accommodated in the new facility.

The present day care centre houses 25 children within what use to be a two-story Pembroke home.

Mr. Duperreault said ACE will now seek a building permit -- expected to be approved by the end of the year.
