`We want our money back'
the Bermuda Football Association.
Hamilton International and BAA have applied to be compensated after players for whom they had paid the mandatory fee of $2,500 -- namely Walter Musson and Kent Martin -- sought transfers back to their original club Dandy Town.
The clubs were forced to pay for the players when they signed them within the past two seasons because they came up through Town's junior ranks.
Now the pair want to move back to Dandy Town and their present clubs are dissatisfied with the service they received.
BAA are understood to have told the BFA that they are objecting because Martin played in only four games with their Second Division team.
"The way we see it is that since we paid $2,500 for a player we should be able to get it back when he leaves. And we feel that our objection is fair because he had only made a few appearances with us,'' said BAA manager Brian Adcock.
Hamilton International are said to be objecting to Musson's move on the grounds that they (Hamilton International) had paid a personal fine of $500, which the player owed after being found guilty of damaging furniture at the St. John's club.
It is believed that Hamilton International also feel that Dandy Town's suspension of Musson, which was carried on to other grounds for several months, prevented them from getting their money's worth out of the player who was only allowed then to play at BAA field.
Newly-elected club president Andrew Starling was unwilling to say much about the matter, but he did confirm that his club were appealing.
"It's true we have objected to the move by the player, but since it's being discussed by the BFA I'd rather not say anything further at this stage,'' he said.
However, clubs with more hope of being awarded the $2,500 transfer fee are Somerset CC, North Village and Dandy Town.
Somerset are claiming that amount for defender Karl Roberts who has filed to move to Vasco. They have also objected to a move by junior team goalkeeper Ricardo Tucker to switch to Dandy Town, but this may pose a problem because the BFA's rules and regulations call for compensation only when a player has had experience with the senior team after coming up through their junior ranks.
Sherritt Hewey made several appearances with North Village's senior team after coming up through the youth programme and Village have objected to the forward's move to Vasco while Dandy Town have taken similar action against defender Sean Smith's transfer to St. David's.
WALTER MUSSON -- In one of the few appearances he made for Hamilton International in two seasons.
