School's vocal ensemble to perform next month

A Howard University ensemble will perform on the Island next month to raise funds for the Bermuda Alumni Scholarship Fund.

Afro Blue is a vocal ensemble at the historically black university and has won two DownBeat Magazine awards.

The event will be under the patronage of Premier Ewart Brown and his wife Wanda. It will be held at the Berkeley Institute October 3 and 4.

Former Bermuda Idol Larrita Adderley will open the show.

Afro Blue has performed for the International Association for Jazz Education, the Smithsonian Institution, the Library of Congress, the Embassy of Japan, and at the Lincoln Theatre.

All members of Afro Blue are currently Howard University music majors.

Tickets will be available at Secrets in Washington Mall and Common Ground in Chancery Lane.

Patron tickets are $125 while regular seats are $75.
