Bermuda Institute holds annual alumni weekend

On May 19th the Bermuda Institute held their annual Alumni Weekend. The weekend’s events were held at the Bermuda Institute campus. The purpose of the special weekend was to honour all the alumni that had attended Bermuda Institute.The weekend started on Thursday, May 19 at 8.45am, when an Alumni Chapel was held in the Bermuda Institute auditorium.The exciting day was filled with an alumni luncheon followed by an alumni football game at the school’s top field, which was filled with great fun and laughter. Friday, the school held a “Haystack Day”. Delicious Haystacks were sold for lunch. That evening a concert was held in the Bermuda Institute auditorium.The concert featured Sasha Crockwell, Jonathan Tankard, Heaven’s Own Quartet, Bermuda Institute Academy Choir, Spiritual Peace and the North Eastern Academy Choir.When Saturday arrived, guest speaker, Dr Emil Peeler, conducted a sermon for the alumni church service. The music ministry included the Bermuda Institute Academy Choir and Band. The North Eastern Academy Choir Senior Class of 2011 was featured that night at the Sabbath Vespers. On Sunday, the last day of the Alumni Weekend, several events took place, including a 5K Walk, Run, and Ride, which included at least 60 participants that raised about $4,000. The next events included Pathfinder Drills, The Alumni Musical, The Dine Around the World, the Spring Into Praise Spring Fair, and a performance by the Sandys Middle School Drum Line.Some events such as The Pathfinder Drills involved local Pathfinders that displayed an organised routine to show their skills.Another unique event was The Dine Around the World, which involved various foods from around the world being presented and sold to the public.The Spring Into Praise Spring Fair involved numerous activities and fun games for the public, performances by The Bermuda Institute Academy Choir and Band, baked goods and books for sale, and many more extravagant and entertaining activities.
