How many times have you heard a fellow golfer insist that ‘the yardage on this course must be wrong?’That plaintive refrain, heard countless times the length and breadth of the Island on any given weekend, usually accompanies the sight of a golf ball sailing over the green or falling woefully short of its intended target.Used numerous times by the hacker as an excuse for a poor score, golfers at Tucker’s Point Club will no longer have any excuses for misjudging their distances. The club have installed the latest GPS technology in their carts and it is so advanced that it does everything but hit the shot.Want to know how far you have to drive the ball to avoid hitting the bunker? Or how about judging the distance to the front of the green from the left hand rough?Simply tap your finger on the display screen that hangs down from roof of the cart and all the information you need will be right there at your fingertips. Need a quick guide to the hole before you tee off? No problem. Tap the screen and a narrated flyover of the hole with warnings on potential hazards fills the car.It doesn’t stop there though. The Visage system from GPSIndustries allows for electronic scoring and will e-mail your card to you afterwards, tells you if there is a golfer in a blind spot ahead of you, and will even let you order food and drinks as you travel the course. In fact, such is the wealth of information available that the only thing you need to think about is hitting the ball. And with all that help, any mistakes really will all be on you.
