Goshawk Insurance Holdings, the holding company for one of Bermuda's newest reinsurers - Goshawk Re - has appointed Andrew Castell to their board as group finance director.

The new post, which is effective immediately puts Mr. Castell, 34, in charge of the group's finances.

Mr. Castell is a chartered accountant (CA) and was said, by to the company to be "an experienced corporate financier".

The company added: "He has worked extensively with companies within Lloyd's, the London Market and the wider insurance industry in various roles throughout his career."

Mr. Castell joins Goshawk from Credit Suisse First Boston where, as a vice-president in the Financial Institutions Group, he specialised in the insurance and reinsurance sectors with particular emphasis on Lloyd's insurance vehicles. Andrew's banking career began with NatWest Markets in 1995 and subsequently Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette. Before then, he spent five years at Touche Ross (now Deloitte & Touche), where he received his audit training in the Financial Institutions Group and spent a further period as a management consultant, specialising in corporate treasury and risk management.

CEO Chris Fagan said: "We have undertaken an extensive search and are delighted that Andrew is joining Goshawk. Andrew's strong analytical skills and experience in the insurance market will be a valuable addition to the management team. We look forward to working with him to develop Goshawk as a leading international underwriter."

A recent panel of Bermuda businessmen travelled to Mexico to attend the Association de Latinoamericana de Riesgos Y Seguros, the ten country association of risk management organisations throughout Latin America.

The Bermuda group outlined the development of the Bermuda insurance market with particular emphasis on captives, according to David Fox, director of information services for the Bermuda Insurance Institute who was also in Mexico for the conference.

Sitting on the Island's panel were AS&K corporate manager Eduardo Fox, Independent Management Group president Peter Strong, AS&K partner Tim Faries and PriceWaterhouseCoopers partner Ray Medeiros.
