Leverock leads Under-15s into the last eight
Bermuda Under-15s have qualified for the quarter-finals of the Caribbean Football Union Cup with a 2-1 victory over St. Vincent, courtesy of a double-salvo from skipper Dante Leverock.
Reaching the final eight of the Trinidad-based tournament was the remit the colts were set by the Bermuda Football Association (BFA), but coach Mark Wade has challenged his players to claim the crown.
"We've come here to win the tournament and we believe we've the capabilities to do so," said Wade whose team are top of their group.
"Our skipper Dante Leverock has been in goalscoring form but we're a little concerned the goals are not being shared around the team."
The youngsters, also coached by Ray Jones, got their campaign off to a fine start with a 3-0 win against St. Kitts last weekend with Leverock scoring a brace and Troy Tucker also opening his account.
The team are next in action against Suriname in their final group game tomorrow, before taking on either Trinidad or Guyana on Sunday.
BFA president Larry Mussenden believes the in-form side have what it takes to claim the coveted title.
"On behalf of the board I would like to extend our congratulations to the Bermuda team and wish them all the best for the next round," he said.
"We hope they can advance straight to the finals and come home with the trophy. Under our strategic plan we want to be one of the best teams in the Caribbean and that process starts at an early age."
