Banned driver fined
Police caught a disqualified teenager driving ? just over three weeks after he was banned from the road.
Benjamin Patchett gave a false name to Police when they stopped his bike on the Railway Trail, Sandys, on March 29.
Magistrate Tyrone Chin on Friday heard how the 19-year-old had already been barred from driving on March 2 for drink driving. The ban was due to expire next March, the court was told.
The defendant, of Pinetree Lane, Sandys, admitted making a false statement, driving while disqualified and using a motorcycle on a section of the Railway Trail.
He apologised in court and said he used the bike in an "emergency", because his brother had no transportation.
But Mr. Chin replied: "That was not an emergency. An emergency is hospital or something of that nature."
Mr. Chin fined Patchett $750 for ignoring the driving ban, $250 for giving a fake name and $25 for taking his bike on the trail.
