Man admits threat to blow up case worker

A 59-year-old Mid-Atlantic Wellness Institute (MAWI) patient who threatened to blow up his case worker, has been given two years’ probation.Cleveland Sinclair Bean, of Pembroke, left a message on Leslie Grant’s voice mail saying: “I will blow you and your car up.”Magistrates’ Court heard the offence occurred on June 11.When interviewed by police on June 13, Bean admitted leaving the message.Bean pleaded guilty on June 19 to uttering threatening words.Bean was told by Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner threatening someone is a serious matter.“You, in typical fashion, when having an altercation with your treatment provider, threatened to blow up his car,” he said.“It was seen based on the report, that you think you can walk around and be disrespectful to them whenever you like and blame it on your drug addiction.”Bean responded: “I was in St Brendan’s [MAWI’s former name] this morning and they said I could continue the programme.”Mr Warner reminded Bean he was told to comply with a case worker for his benefit and to stop behaving in such a threatening manner.Mr Warner ordered Bean to comply with two years’ probation.Bean was also ordered to comply with conditions that require drug treatment assessments and rehabilitation treatments.
