SWIMMING SW The Winter National Swimming Age Group Championships conclude tomorrow at the BASA pool at Saltus with the sprint events, starting at 1.00 p.m. following a 12 noon warm-up.
Some 100 boys and girls in various age groups are expected to be involved in what is the final of three meets, the others having taken place on October 21 and 28.
JUNIOR GOLF GLF Play in Bermuda Junior Golf Association's tournaments at Castle Harbour and Southampton Princess last Saturday produced some close results at both venues.
At Castle Harbour in group five, Dwayne Simons edged out Robbie Spurling on retrogression, both carding 82s. Justin Barritt was third on 85.
In group four, with daylight rapidly fading, young Aaron James carded an excellent 71 over 16 holes to top the division. Fraser Hunt beat out Chris Tully on retrogression for second, both with 81s.
Groups one, two and three played at Southampton Princess. In group three, Raj Pachai had a fine 65 over 18 holes to top the group, followed by Lindsay Sims on 69 and Mark Robinson with 71.
In Group two over 13 holes, David Boyce led the way with a 51 followed by Andrew Smith on 53 and David Smith on 55.
Group one play saw Andrew Boyce card a fine 54 over 13 holes for top place.
Dalsha Haxton beat out Juliette Oatley for second, both carding 58s.
This week's play will be at St. George's and juniors will also be involved in the Gilbert (Butch) Lindo fundraiser at Belmont.
SOFTBALL SOF Bermuda Commercial Softball League will hold an umpires clinic tomorrow at 10 a.m. at Bernard Park. The clinic is open to anyone interested in umpiring this year, with emphasis on the role and positioning of the home plate umpire.
