Welcome to the First Division, Devonshire Cougars.

That was the message delivered yesterday by Dandy Town, who provided last year's Second Divison champions with a rude reception on their return to Bermuda football's upper echelon.

Coming off two straight Martonemere Cup wins to open the season, Town took advantage of a newly-promoted squad seeing their first action of the new campaign as they scored three times in a nine-minute span after the break.

Cleveland Campbell got one back for Cougars after 'keeper Antoine Lightbourne's mistake during a goalmouth scramble in the 80th minute.

Campbell hit a point-blank shot over the bar minutes later but Kurt Martin, unmarked by a handful of Devonshire defenders, completed the rout five minutes later, scooping up a loose ball and pounding a shot past 'keeper Leon Place.

If Trott was happy with his team's fitness, he was thrilled with the production of Darron Simons and Carlos Smith.

Smith opened the scoring yesterday asnd then Simons scored twice seven minutes apart. The first goal came after a slick passing move that finished with Reginald Tucker pushing the ball back to Lionel Furbert, who in turn sent a long cross on to Simons' foot.

The second came when Simons outlegged two defenders to catch a long Town clearance, drew out Place and rolled a 20-yard shot into the open goal.
