The points span between top and bottom in the Fishbowl Bowling League tightened slightly after latest action saw third-from-bottom Marlins beat

Marlins were led by Patty Miller who had a 201 high game while tops for Snappers was Arthur Flood's 511.

Snappers are now in a second place tie with Wahoo who beat Hinds 3-1, while Barracuda took full advantage, winning all four against Angel Fish to move into first place.

John Maycock led Barracuda with his 514 series while Prudence Spriggs bowled the women's second high series of 503. Angel Fish's Wendy Cummings bowled the women's third high series of 494 in a losing cause for the bottom team.

Despite the efforts of Mansfield Allen who had the top series and game of 591 and 232, Tuna were still not able to offset the bowling of Goldfish who won 3-1.

Porgies won all four points against Rockfish thanks to Quinton Mallory's 525 series and 203 game which placed him third on both honours lists. High for Rockfish was Larry Kaufman who had a 480 series.

Cow Pollies showed their stripes and swam into sixth place on the strength of their 4-0 win over Dolphins as Barbara Smith led with the top women's series of 528 and third game 183.

In the remaining game fourth-placed Piranhas stopped Mackerel 3-1.

JUNIOR GOLF GLF The first tournament of the new Bermuda Junior Golf Association season was played last Saturday at Port Royal with Robbie Spurling leading the way in Group Five.

Spurling fired an impressive five-over par 76 to edge out Quinton Sherlock by one shot.

In Group Four Neil Fenton carded 83, beating John Legere only on retrogression.

Group Three saw R.Pachai fire 83 -- seven shots better than second placed Aaron Burrows.

BJGA's Groups One and Two played at Southampton Princess where R.Davidge went round nine holes in 34 to lead Group Two ahead of Scott McLeod (35) and Douglas Markey (37). In Group One Andrew Boyce edged out Chaka DeSilva on retrogression, both carding 34, followed by David Smith on 35.

Daisha Haxton led the girls with 39 followed by Stephanie Lewis (47) and Bonnie Leibowitch (48).

Play continues this Saturday at St. George's Club for Groups One, Two and Three.

VOLLEYBALL VOL Bermuda Volleyball Association recently held their 1995 Fall Mixer Tournament, which produced plenty of excitement for players and spectators.

In the Men's A Division, Cameron McInnis proved too much for the opposition, seizing the title ahead of Adam Wong, with Andrew Soares third.

Andy Yonga likewise captured the Men's B Division top spot over David Milligan and Robin Thomas.

On the women's side Wendy Cummings topped the A Division, while left locked in a second place tie were Denise Somerville and Erika Hendrick.

Carol Mitchell took honours in the B Division trailed by Donna Harpe and Lara Hoth.

CROSS COUNTRY CC The second races in both the senior and junior cross country series are set for tomorrow morning at Astwood Park, starting at 9.00. The men will run a course of about 5.5 miles and the women about three miles.

The event is being organised by Mid Atlantic Athletic Club.

Last week's opening senior race over Warwick Dunes saw Kavin Smith and Jennifer Fisher take respective men's and women's honours.

Mid Atlantic Athletic Club hold the third event in their members' race series at the Botanical Gardens on Sunday, starting at 9.00.
