Douglas and Gibson to contest final
Home advantage paid off for Darrick Douglas and Dwayne Gibson who progressed to today's Fritz Reiter BPGA Matchplay Championships final.
Douglas takes on Gibson in the 36-hole final at Belmont Hills Golf Club at 8.30 a.m.
Bobby McRonald beat former European PGA Tour golfer Kim Swan in a surprise defeat yesterday.
But McRonald's joy was short-lived with Douglas showing his local knowledge by overcoming him in the afternoon's play. Douglas had earlier beaten Cleve Tucker.
In the day's other matches Paul Adams, from Tuckers Point Club, was narrowly defeated by Gibson who went on to beat fellow Belmont Hills professional Twilton Smith. Smith had earlier won against Keith Smith.
McRonald will play Smith in the third place play-off at 1 p.m.
Other competitors Chaka DeSilva, Swaine Eve, David Boyce, Chris Smith and Andrew Bissell all fell by the wayside in Tuesday's first round.
