Medal haul for pacers

the East Coast Invitational Track Meet at Towlson State University, with Steven Woodley and Gina Cann claiming two apiece.

Woodley, who won silver medals in the high jump and long jump in the recent Junior CAC Games in Honduras, picked up a gold medal in the 15-16 high jump with his winning jump of six-feet, six-inches. He collected a silver in the triple jump with a leap of 46 feet, six-inches.

Cann, in the girls 11-12 age group, got a silver for her second place finish in the 100 metres (12.82 seconds) and a bronze in the 200 metres with a personal best time of 26.27.

The other gold medals were won by Janine Scott for her winning leap of 12-feet, seven and a quarter inches in the girls 9-10 long jump, and Sharif Taylor in the boys 15-16 800 metres which he won with a personal best time of 1:57.12. Taylor won gold medals in both the 400 and 800 metres of the Junior CAC Games.

The two other silver medallists at the East Coast Invitational were Khano Smith in the 11-12 boys high jump with a jump of four-feet, six-inches and Jarita Dill in the 13-14 girls 400 metres in which she finished in 59.30 seconds.

Rohaan Simons, the other medallist from Junior CAC where he collected a bronze in the triple jump, also won a bronze at this recent meet with his jump of 6'6'' in the 15-16 high jump.

Two other athletes finished fourth in their events -- Dennis Musson in the 11-12 boys high jump, and Erika Russell in the 13-14 girls high jump.

Damon Ming was fifth in three events, the 13-14 boys 1500 metres, and the long jump and 800 metres, both with personal best performances. Simons was fifth in the triple jump with another personal best.

The Pacers were competing in the event for the 10th year.
