Co-workers pay tribute to Kitina Simmons
Colleagues have paid tribute to a young woman killed in a car crash, describing her as "a wonderful girl".
Kitina Simmons lost her fight for life on Monday after suffering serious head injuries when her car overturned and struck a wall in the early hours of Thursday.
Ms Simmons, 23, of Sandys, worked as a barmaid in The Robin Hood Pub, Hamilton.
Yesterday, general manager Jillian Summers said she would be "sorely missed" by both customers and colleagues.
"She was a wonderful girl, a lot of fun, and we are very sad to lose her. She will be sorely missed," said Ms Summers.
Police say Ms Simmons was travelling east along Middle Road when her car hit a pavement and overturned, near to the junction of Longford Road.
A front-seat passenger, a 23-year-old woman from St. George's, received cuts and facial injuries.
Ms Simmons leaves a young daughter, Tinasia.
Yesterday, friend Tene Dowling said: "She was a cool, caring person and a great mother.
"God had a purpose for her and it has been fulfilled. We love you Tina. Always and forever."
Tributes have been pouring in for Ms Simmons on two Internet sites — 'Prayer for Katina' and 'R.I.P Kitina', on Facebook.
One said: "Mrs. Heels herself she will always leave her footprints in the sand".
Another friend wrote: "You was always pleasant and had a smile on your face, ... you were really a gem that would never be forgotten."
Ms Simmons attended Paget Primary School, Spice Valley Middle School and Berkeley Institute. She was also employed at Cablevision.
