September with the same number of students.

The private school wanted to expand its enrolment and therefore needed a larger facility. The school had sought permission to expand its current location at Tivoli -- off The Middle Road in Warwick -- earlier this year.

That idea was turned down by the Bermuda National Trust which owns the property.

Desperate to find a new location, an island-wide search has been underway since May.

Principal Margaret Hallett yesterday admitted nothing had materialised and that the school will remain at Tivoli this September.

With the facility unable to accommodate 300 students, Mrs. Hallett noted that when the school re-opens in September it will have its usual enrolment of 136.

Mrs. Hallett also pointed out that efforts are still underway to try to find a new location. The lease for Tivoli expires in 2001.

IMPAIRED RIDER FINED CTS Impaired rider fined A Warwick man caught driving while impaired was fined $600 in Magistrates' Court.

Jose Luis Costa, 36, of Spice Hill Road, pleaded guilty to the charge yesterday.

Prosecutor Veronica Gordon said Police saw Costa standing over his cycle on Trimingham Hill at about 1.25 a.m. on July 17.

When Police approached him he appeared unsteady on his feet and was trying to lift up the cycle -- causing it to rev while it was still lying on its side.

When questioned, he admitted he had been drinking but refused to give a breath sample.

But yesterday in court, Costa -- who spoke through an interpreter -- said he did not understand that officers wanted him to give a breath sample.

Magistrate Edward King ordered him to pay a $600 fine and banned him from driving all motor vehicles for one year.

ELEVATOR STALLS FIR Elevator stalls A person trapped in an elevator sparked a Fire Service call on Monday, but a technician was able to release the person shortly after firefighters arrived.

The Service also handled another unusual call with the report of a domestic gas leak.

A 911 call was received at 2.23 p.m. from a Victoria Street office building but the trapped person was not confined for long as an elevator repairman arrived at virtually the same time.

And at 12.17 p.m., firefighters went to a Watlington Lane, Devonshire residence to douse a gas leak from a cylinder.

A Fire Service spokesman said: "It was not a major leak, but we do get this type of call from time to time.'' BOAT SPEEDERS FINED CTS Boat speeders fined Two men were fined in Magistrates' Court in separate incidents after being caught speeding in their boats.

And 26-year-old Caleb Adrian Zuill, of Harbour Road, Paget, also pleaded guilty to the same charge.

Magistrate Edward King fined Cripps $100 for the offence, and Zuill was fined $150 since he had a previous conviction.
