The woman reported hearing someone in her Court Street home around 6 a.m. on Saturday.

She said she was sitting at her dining room table when she heard a noise coming from a bedroom.

On checking, she saw the window curtains raised and heard someone running away from the house. Nothing was reported stolen.

ACCIDENT DRIVER COMES FORWARD CRM Accident driver comes forward The driver of a Hyundai car, which was last week involved in a collision with another car on King Street has come forward.

Police sent out appeals after the Hyundai car collided with a Mitsubishi car parked near the Pool and Tile House last Thursday night.

The rear of the Mitsubishi was extensively damaged.

Police spokeswoman Sgt. Andrea Browne said Police are still anxious to speak with any witnesses to the 11 p.m. accident.

THEFT OF WHISKY PROVES EXPENSIVE CTS Thefts of whisky proves expensive Stealing a $27 bottle of whisky cost a 30-year-old Pembroke man twice as much in Magistrates' Court yesterday.

Dean Burgess, of North Shore Road, admitted stealing the bottle of Dewar's whisky from A-1 Supermarket in Paget on November 13.

Police received a call about a shoplifter at the store around 6 p.m., said Insp. Peter Duffy, prosecuting.

Staff had seen Burgess concealing the bottle and followed him outside, Insp.

Duffy said, and saw him place it on the ground. Burgess admitted stealing the liquor when arrested.

He has previous convictions for house breaking and stealing food, Insp. Duffy said before the Wor. John Judge fined Burgess $50.

BREAK-INS MAR QUIET WEEKEND CRM Break-ins mar quiet weekend Police yesterday reported a quiet weekend with the exceptions of a few break-ins on Saturday.

Cash totaling $600 was stolen from a home at Harlem Heights, Hamilton Parish, Police spokeswoman Sgt. Andrea Browne said.

A blue Suzuki motorcycle was stolen from a storage room following a break in at a Spanish View Road residence in Smith's.

MAN FINED $400 FOR AVOIDING POLICE CTS Man fined $400 for avoiding police A 22-year-old Devonshire man, who escaped Police custody twice to avoid paying a $100 traffic fine, was yesterday fined $400.

David Albuoy, of Glebe Road, admitted in Magistrates' Court to escaping from lawful custody and assaulting a Police officer.

Insp. Peter Duffy, prosecuting, said a warrant was out for Albuoy's arrest for riding a motorcycle without a licence.

Police near Roberts Avenue around 11 a.m. on October 2 saw Albuoy but he ran from them.

On November 15 Police saw Albuoy on Angle Street and approached him to arrest him.

Albuoy ran on to Court Street where he hit out at Police. He was subdued and arrested.

The Wor. John Judge fined Albuoy $150 for each offence and imposed a three-month prison term, suspended for a year.

"You know you could have paid that $100 to Magistrates' Court and saved all of this,'' he told Albuoy. "Have a bit of sense in the future.'' A 32-year-old Pembroke man was arrested after a collision between his Volkswagen Golf and a Suzuki motorcycle being ridden by a 19-year-old Devonshire man.

The accident occured on North Shore Road, in Devonshire on Thursday at 7.15 p.m.

A 22-year-old pedal cyclist escaped serious injury on Thursday during a collision with a van driven by a 34-year-old Pembroke man, on St. David's Road, near the Number Three Gate. Police later arrested the van driver.
