Artist Dan's canvasses are a big hit in Boston

BERMUDIAN artist Dan Dempster's unique canvasses showing the interplay of the island's water and light are wowing Bostonians at one of that city's leading galleries.

M2L and Canvas Fine Art are jointly hosting the exhibition ¿ titled Tidepools: Fractal Shallows ¿ at the M2L gallery at 104 Boylston Street. The show, which opened on April 17 runs until Friday, June 27.

Mr. Dempster's work is inspired by the inter-tidal zones of Grape Bay and Ariel Sands along Bermuda's South Shore.

Known for his detailed paintings and magical drawings of the water's edge, he is shown in the Bermuda National Gallery, the Bermuda Society of Art, and the Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art. He was one of four Bermudian artists selected for the British Red Cross Art for Humanity auction and ball in London, 2005.

Mr. Dempster is now listed in the Art in America Guide to Galleries, Museums and Artists, having had two solo shows and over 30 group shows in New York City. His paintings, drawings and sculpture have also been shown in Atlanta, Newport News, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.

Tidepools: Fractal Shallows consists of 16 shimmering, monochromatic canvasses painted with powdered graphite and ground Conté. Hung throughout the main floor and loft mezzanine of the former piano showroom at M2L
