Fight Bulls Head crime
May 14, 2008
Dear Sir,
In the past couple of weeks there have been an abundance of cars being broken into at the Bulls Head Car Park. I usually catch the ferry to work but on Tuesday May 13, 2008 I had to drive in because I had a meeting in the afternoon. Upon arriving at the car park I found out, apparently, a car had been broken into earlier that morning.
I said to myself do I want to park here? Should I take a chance? Should I park on the upper level where there is more light? Or park at another car park like City Hall or Par-la-Ville? I drove around and eventually decided to park there.
In driving around and looking for a parking space I only saw ONE Security Officer who was a little elderly lady. Is she safe and is she capable?
Since the Corporation is aware of car break-ins why is there only one security officer for a five level car park which houses hundreds of cars for the entire day?
At 6 p.m. I walked to the car park. On my arrival there were several people and police officers gathered around my car and the car next to mine. To my surprise the car I had parked next to had been broken into sometime after I arrived that morning. I have at least one meeting per week where I need to drive to town. I will not be parking at Bulls Head again until this is rectified. I would rather be inconvenienced by not having my car because they are too lazy to go out and make an honest living.
SUGGESTIONS
1. Get more security officers.(At least two each level).
2. Younger and more energetic.
3. Do routine checks.
4. Security booth where they can monitor the cameras on all levels at least from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
If these are put into place, I believe that the level of fear that is intimidating many will be reduced, the behaviours of the vandalizers will decrease and the integrity of the Corporation of Hamilton will be restored.
Act now. Don't wait. Lives are at stake. Stop the break-ins.

A card of thanks
May 6, 2008
Dear Sir,
Greetings. We come once again asking your kindness to print this letter showing our gratitude.
On behalf of the officers and members of The Orchid Charity Club may I take this opportunity to express our sincerest appreciation to the many merchants who made donations to our Annual Christmas project.
This project enables us to make contributions to residents of our Senior Homes and others who are in need throughout the island, for which they are very grateful and overjoyed.
At this time we also give thanks to all of our faithful taggers who donated their personal time on our Annual Tag Day, January 18 and 19, 2008.
Many thanks to all of the merchants throughout the island who gave us permission to tag in front of their establishments.
We had a very successful two days, we managed to reach our intended quota. We are so very grateful to the general public for their generosity. This would not have been possible without everyone working together.
Also thanks to the many merchants who supplied us with food donations towards our St. Patrick's Day Tea — Sunday May 16, 2008. Thank you once again.
Also thanks to our good friends the North Village Band. Also to our guest soloist Sis. Alice Lowe of St. Phillip AME Church — a lovely rendition.
Thanks to our guest speaker the Rev. Joseph Whalen, Jr. of Marsden First Methodist Church — a very thought provoking message.
Thanks to our waitresses, Beverley and Barbara Knights, our waiters Dion Rawlins and his son Shadoe — a job well done.
Thanks to our brothers The Leopards Club. Last but far from, least our loyal patrons who support us every year, without your dedicated support we would not have been so successful. Above all we thank God for guiding and guarding us every step of the way. May God continue to bless each and every one of you.
