Bermuda's Games in pictures: memories of personal achievement, pride in competing for the Island on sport's greatest stage and the heartache and
Stars of the show: Skipper Peter Bromby (rear) and his crew of Lee White just missed out on Bermuda's second ever Olympic medal as they finished fourth overall in the Star Class, having won one of the 11 races. It was Bermuda's highest placing in an Olympic regatta. Exclusive interview with Bromby -- Page 31.
Left: MJ Tumbridge (left) is comforted by groom Amanda Rolfe after her horse Bermuda's Gold had broken its left hind leg in an awkward landing during the cross country phase of the three-day event. The mare was later put down because of the seriousness of her injuries, leaving MJ distraught. The heartbreaking story prompted hundreds of messages of condolence to MJ.
Right: Swimmer Stephen Fahy failed to progress past the first heat against tough competition in either the 200 IM or the 100 butterfly and fell short of his personal best times. Vain battles: Sara Lane Wright (above, left) and Brian Wellman both found the going tough in Sydney. For Wright, her 25th place overall in a Europe dinghy fleet of 27 on her Olympic debut, was a stepping stone towards the next Games in Athens in 2004. But for Wellman, once ranked number two in the world and seen here competing in the Pan Am Games in Winnipeg last year, his failure to reach the final of the triple jump competition could mark his farewell to the Olympics.
