American teams of Charlie and Joan Hartnett and Dr. Bob and Tucker Crawford each won their respective divisions handily during the final round of the
George's Golf Club yesterday.
The Hartnett's, who had a 50 in the final round, were the net winners with a combined 165 and easily beat the local team of Terri-Lynn Calderon and James Pace into second place. Calderon and Pace finished with a 49 and a combined score of 173.
Third in the net division were Americans Paul and Elizabeth Fortin on 183. The Crawford's took the gross crown with a combined score of 209 and a 66 effort yesterday and edged out out Calderon and Pace.
Calderon and Pace matched the champions in the final round with a 66, but the local pair still finished well behind with a combined score of 224. Third on 225 were Astoria Edwards and Leroy Burch.
SOFTBALL SOF Action in the Commercial Softball League on Thursday night saw just two matches played as, in the scheduled nightcap, Snowballs won by default over AICO.
Team Xerox edged by BNTB Flyers 10-8 in the opener with Chris Knight having a perfect four-for-four for the winners which included three home runs and six RBIs, while Darryl Watson went two-for-four and Jim Michelsen three-for-four.
Ken Pitcher and Rick Johansen led the Flyers with two-for-three and three-for-four respectively. Watson was the winning pitcher while Johansen suffered the loss.
In the other match Cock and Feather beat Gateway Herd 9-4, thanks to Jeff Baldwin and Dennis Richardson who each had a two-for-four and Carl Seymour with three-for-four. Ken MacPherson led the losers with two-for-three.
Dennis Pamplin was the winning pitcher while Nigel Godfrey was tagged with the loss.
In action on Wednesday night Ace Hogs beat Robin Hood 17-2 in five innings as Wade Jerrett and Jeremy Dtover both went three-for-three and Doug Tufts a perfect four-for-four.
Sousa's Lawncare and Design beat Police Club 16-11 as Tanya Semos had a perfect three-for-three for the winners and Shane DeMille a perfect four-for-four for Police Club.
The previous night witnessed Bacardi Bats escaping with a 12-10 win over Skandia Sabres, PTB scorching BF&M 21-6 and Arthur Anderson torching Kempe and Whittle 14-7.
