The team spent last week competing against chefs from 16 Caribbean islands in the sixth annual Taste of the Caribbean contest in Miami.

Both the senior and junior divisions won overall silver medals for their creations in the competition. Bartender Delvin Caines also received a bronze medal and pastry chef Colin Wilson brought in a silver medal for his centre showpiece, which also won a separate mention as the finest detailed work in its category.

Junior team coach Joe Gibbons said Bermuda's team found the going tough but represented the Island well.

The other senior team members were Markus Wesch, Olivier Ramos, Mathew Line and Christian Buggelsheim. The junior team consisted of Oshea Tucker, Sherman Trott, Antoine Smith and Teneika Eve.

The Taste of the Caribbean is the largest international culinary event held in North America.
