arrested a man who had been violent on board a charter flight.

A Britannia Airways crew radioed Bermuda requesting permission to land, claiming one of the passengers had caused a disturbance on board.

Airport officials said the flight, from Miami to London, diverted to Bermuda at around 9.40 p.m.

A duty officer said the flight crew had hinted the 20-year-old British passenger may have been drugged up and lashed out at fellow passengers.

He added: "We had a report of a medical emergency on board the aircraft.

"Our report also suggests that the man may have been narcotically handicapped. We agreed to a request for the plane to land and for the man to be taken off. He was very docile when he was taken into custody.''
