Shell's application for planning permission to refurbish its service station at Crow Lane was granted and it can now apply for a building permit.

But the Board said parking and manoeuvring spaces for seven cars had to be clearly marked before a Certificate of Use and Occupancy Permit was granted.

The work is part of a programme to upgrade all of Shell's service stations and involves replacing the station's canopy, replacing storage tanks and establishing modern environmental standards.

Meanwhile RBYC's plan to construct a concrete breakwater and flotation system for a new marina was temporarily scuppered as the Board deferred the in-principle application until a site visit could be held.

Club commodore Tom Miller said it had been proposing to build a marina with some 80 berths directly to the south of the existing facility.

The breakwater would enclose the existing moorings and within that configuration -- which was yet to be determined -- floating docks would be constructed to allow owners get to their craft.

Plans to change the face of the Riddells Bay Golf & Country Club were recently given the go-ahead in principle by the Development Applications Board.

The proposal, submitted by the Riddells Bay Road, Warwick club, includes the addition of a dining room with terrace and a pull cart storage area.
