New security firm starts
A new electronic security company, International Security and Fire, has entered the market currently dominated by Bermuda Alarm Co. Ltd and Bermuda Central Station Ltd.
Founder Marsha Andrew was previously employed at Inter-spec, the office furniture company where Marc Andrew is director and head of sales.
IS&F offers security systems for both residential and commercial properties and since opening for business on Monday, has already taken over five or six commercial buildings as clients.
The company specialises in Digital Security Control and CC TV systems.
But it is also able to take on clients with other existing security systems.
The company does not provide physical security services such as security guards.
Mrs. Andrew says she first started thinking about entering the security business only six months ago after she got a new security system for her own home: “I think that as a woman, you become security conscious.”
She says she saw the market for a company “with the emphasis on service” and started to research the security industry via magazines, telephone and Internet.
Heading up a team of technicians and other staff members is operations manager, Judy Jones.
She and five other full time staff will run the monitoring station back at the office on Mill Reach Lane.
