Library month activities begin tomorrow

Bermuda National Library will waive overdue book charges during the month of April, it has been announced.

The move is aimed at celebrating National Library Week, which begins tomorrow.

To kick off the celebrations, all people signing up as new library users at the venue on Queen Street, Hamilton, between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. tomorrow will receive a free canvas bag. A photo ID plus address verification by way of a recent bill or bank statement is required. Other events scheduled include quizzes, a kite-making demonstration and a paperback book exchange where readers can bring one book and take another. Staff at the library will be on hand to give guided tours to interested persons. Among the services provided are free Internet access and word processing, local and foreign newspapers, and the rental of educational videos, music CDs and audio books. Several special activities will also be on offer at the library?s youth division on Church Street, Hamilton. These include a Spring crafts workshop on Tuesday and the showing of ?Stuart Little? movies on Wednesday. Parents should check with the youth library on 295-0487 for show times, or to register for the workshop.
