Stylist v Stylish

Fight night boxers Bruno Parker and Jerome Kaines

Trained hairstylist Bruno Parker takes on Jerome Kaines, a fighter with a style of his own, in Saturday?s welterweight championship ? and fireworks are expected.

Thirty-year-old Parker won on a split-points decision over the hugely unorthodox Kaines last year and is feeling confident ahead of the re-match.

?This will be my first return to the ring since last year?s win and I am feeling good,? said Parker, looking to improve on his 6-2 record gained in Texas, St. Maarten and on home soil.

?I have been working on a few things in training and I am always looking to hone my skills.

?I?ve not fought anyone like Jerome before, he has a different style to anything I?ve ever faced but I am going to concentrate on what I?m doing and I?m not going to get put off by anything he does.?

Parker, who has a shaolin kung fu background, only took to boxing four years ago but is a keen practitioner of the fight game and is always keen to train.

Kaines, who has now lost his dreadlocks, is a Prince Naseem-style fighter, who keeps his hands down and is keen on entertaining as much as boxing.

Last year he sported denim-style shorts and a Bruce Lee t-shirt and none of the 1,500 expected for Saturday?s Front Street spectacular will be surprised if he picks another unconventional outfit for this week?s fight.

?It?s just me, my style,? said the 33-year-old construction worker.

?As long as I keep paying attention, keeping my hands down isn?t a problem. If I watch what I?m doing then it is an effective way of going about my business.

?I?m looking forward to this one and I?m confident I can get a victory in this re-match.

?Bruno is a good fighter but I think I have what it takes.?

The welterweight contest is the first of two championship fights, with Sharieff Wales taking on Freeman Smith in the super heavyweight bout that tops the amateur card.

The final contest of the night sees the Island?s only pro Teresa Perozzi take on world number 12 Elizabeth Kerin in Fight Night?s first pro bout.
